I just got an S4 last week after my wife took over my rooted & custom rom S3. I'm stuck with the MF3 version and have it rooted, but other than doing things like using Titanium Backup, what else is the rooting good for since custom roms are still out of the question.

You don't have safestrap? It works quite well for the locked 4.2.2 Verizon versions.

Otherwise you can still get a fair amount of customization through Xposed.

I don't have safestrap. From the little time I've had to sort out info for the S4 but I was under the impression it wouldn't work with the MF3 baseband version I have.

How is everyone's experience with GS4 earpiece and speaker? I like the phone but sound is horrible. When I put someone on speakerphone they cant hear me unless my face is about 2 feet away. First phone I ever had when its this bad. I used to be able to be half way across the room with other phones and people could hear me fine.

Earpiece is only audible when volume boost is used, otherwise phone must be pressed against ear to hear. Usually I hold phones 1-2 inches away from my head and hear fine.

Mine doesn't do that. The external speaker is tinny but it's clear (it's turned up already?). If I cup my hand around the back without completely covering the speaker port then the sound is even reasonable.

The earpiece I usually have at like 60% because that's more than loud enough already.
