I have decided to buy an A7V133 for my Athlon TB 850. I will be running win2k on this machine. Other details are:

256 MB CAS2 Crucial Pc133 RAM
Promise Fasttrak66 (pci) with 2x15gb ibm hdds, striped

Anyone who owns this motherboard, can you tell me if you had any problems with it? Is it stable like in Anand's test? Does it have space for a good hs/fan? Do you recommend this mobo?

Thanks.

Yes, I recommend this motherboard. It runs VERY fast and VERY stable. I've had only one problem with it and that was with my machine would lockup whenever I'd transfer files over across a network. It isn't Win2k's fault and it isn't software related. I've narrowed it down to it being a hardware conflict or BIOS problem instead. I've just gotten word that there's a new 1004 BIOS release for the A7V133, so I will be trying that out in a few days, once I know it's safe. Also, I've been told to move my NIC to slot 2 to attempt to solve the problem.

You don't need that Promise Fasttrack ATA66 controller card man. The A7V133 has a Promise ATA100 RAID 0 controller, which works with drives all the way down to UDMA33 drives. You can have up to 4 HDDs on the Promise and another 4 drives on the regular onboard IDE controllers. All of the connectors are ATA100 and down compatible. The board is loaded with features and is very stable, other than my little network problem.

The only reason I am adding the Raid card is because I already own it. I will just be transferring it from my current to the new one.

If the A7V133 had an onboard raid controller, I might as well use that then, since its the same promise chip.

And thank you about the heads up about the network problem. Appretiate it.
