I wouldn't worry about sub 10ms response time on any monitor. It's input lag you should worry about, and unless you're a professional FPS gamer, or super-sensitive to it, then it should be a non-issue as well. The input lag is also sub 10ms.

I am also planning to buy a monitor specifically for gaming and am considering this. I posted in another thread and recieved a lot of great help on building my machine as well as on monitors. I was told that 120Hz was the sweet spot for gaming, but I unfortunately can't afford a 27" 120Hz monitor @ $550.

These are the two I am currently considering. One is 27", but @ 60Hz and the other is 23" w/ 120Hz refresh rate.

How long of a delay are we looking at here?

The delay thus far is 5 days so I'm looking at delivery on the 7th. The 2412 will have a similar refresh rate to the 27" panel but should have better colors and contrast both dead on and at an angle than either of those monitors.

And I would expect delays from anybody right now. Cyber monday was about 25% better than any other in history, BF weekend was up over 10% overally, but the economy is allegedly weaker right now. It's highly unlikely that product planners were able to correctly forecast this, but at least by buying directly from the manufacturer you know that you'll still be able to get the product at the stated price after the short delay.

Got my set of 3 of these. Bought from amazon instead to save a few dollars when adding shipping and tax.

Very impressed so far. No lag, blurring or any other negitive issues.

I was looking at this monitor until I've read reports about backlight flickering at less than 80% brightness... So now I'm waiting on feedback from HP zr2440w to see if that is flicker free.

Those reports don't make sense. I have my three up and running and see NO flickering no matter the settings.

this is a great great monitor, jeez I can't believe how nice it is, and big too. No issues at all here. I would be OK with the 23" for $100 less too, but really wanted the 1200 vert.

And to the last poster about it being cheaper on Amazon, it's not. It's not sold through amazon so there's like $28 shipping and since it's a Dell monitor I think you need to deal with Dell for any bad pixels, etc (if Amazon was the seller, that would be a different story). Be careful here people.

They're REAL bad about keeping electronics in stock these days. I won't buy from anyone except amazon LLC, some of the third party sellers that appear on there are REALLY sketchy. Even circuit city which is an amazon approved 3rd party seller, has a 25% restock fee. Ridiculous. Pay attention to who you buy from! Buy from NO ONE except Amazon LLC!

None of those are sold directly by Amazon. Yes, some are fulfilled by Amazon and thus Prime eligible, but they cost at least $340. Even with 10% tax, buying directly from Dell would be cheaper.

Mine got delayed as well. I wish I didn't pick 7 day shipping with it either, probably will be a long time before I see it.
