The Egg has Yamaha's top of the line receiver (last year's model) on special at $899. This is absolutely SMOKING. HERE is Audioholic's review of it. There isnt much difference between the A3000 and the A3010 (this years model), other than 10WPC more, and 7.1 vs 9.1. If you're in the market for a receiver, this thing will deliver!

Looks as if it was once on sale for $1000, but otherwise has been $1600-1800. $900 seems pretty hot to me, though still a bit rich for my blood.
 
I couldn't convince the wife on the need to replace our current receiver with this one since according to her the other one still works fine (it does). Anyway, great deal if you can get it through the wifely veto. 😀
 
i remember when "The Good Guys" use to hype up how much better the "yamaha RX-V1" was than the THX Certified receivers. Saying that it was more "natural-sounding". So I bought the V1, took it home, plugged it in to my cheap-o Sony 5.1 speaker system, and WOW! Made it sound like they were expensive speakers!

Of course, I DID return the receiver... Couldn't afford 2k in college at the time.. just wanted to try it out 🙂

Yes they can, and "better" is subjective. It depends on features youre looking for, and the sound you like. Denons sound MUCH different listening to the same source. I personally dont care for Denon's sound, but some prefer them. Best to go somewhere with a listening room and have a listen.
 
Does the monster cable come with it? Otherwise the price is going to double...

Looks like dead for good. The A3000 doesnt even show up any more on a search, and the original like shows "Deactivated. This item is currently out of stock and it may or may not be restocked."

There are a few open boxes on ebay. Myself, Im waiting for the price to drop again on Amazon. Ive got $600 in free Amazon gift cards burning a hole in my pocket and have been waiting for the price to drop again. Funny thing...I was waiting for these in the mail when it was $899 on newegg and amazon in November, and I got my gift cards the exact day after it went back to regular price. DOH!

its actually pretty easy to set up. the manual is 1000X better written then any Denon ive owned


however if you want a paper copy you need to print it yourself. all 180 pages of it
