[ALIVE AGAIN] MSI GTX260-216 for $145AR,AC free ship@Newegg

Seems to be a lot faster than a 4870...link...

Here's some reviewer comments 4870 vs gtx260-216:
As significant as these gains are however, we wouldn?t classify them as game changers. The 4870 1GB still trails the GTX 260 in our testing with games like CoH, CoD 4, and Lost Planet, and still wins in the games the Radeon 4800 has always excelled in like Crysis and World in Conflict. Just as NVIDIA didn?t really shake things up with the 216-core GTX 260, ATI hasn?t shaken things up with the Radeon 4870 1GB.

looks about the same.

How much is this card faster than the 8800gts512 one?
Does anyone know?

this is a nice move up from a 8800... lets you bump up a resolution... but is not as good as two 8800s...

One major thing holding me back is MSI's warranty vs. EVGA's or BFG's. I've been looking at getting a gtx260-216 for when I'm going to do my entire system upgrade soon. So far I've been eyeing the EVGA 55nm card.

XFX has double lifetime warranty, and this is a good deal at $170 AR, bundled with Farcry2 and COD World at War, free shipping.

This is a much better deal, imo.
Those two games alone, worth ~ $50 bucks.
XFX DLW is a big bonus.

i don't disagree, if you want the games...

Yep. However, I picked up Far Cry 2 for $3.01 a few weeks back (Newegg) & have way too many games to justify getting more..so it doesn't help me out a whole lot. 🙁

Something strange I noticed in the specs for that card is that it says the min. power req. is a 630w PSU for non-SLI. For the EVGA it says 500w for min. power req. The only difference between the two is that the XFX has memory clock that is 2MHz faster.

that is probably a typo, for single card 630W is too high 500w sounds about right.

I noticed that too, but from what I've read, a decent quality 500 watt with 2x18 amp 12v rails should be fine as long as your system isn't heavily loaded. I'll be using a FSP Blue Storm II 500 watt, but the PC only has one HDD and optical drive and one 120mm case fan. It works fine with an 8800 GTX, and the GTX 260 is supposed to have nearly identical full-load power requirements.

for those worrying about power supplies, look at the system in my rig. it runs fine, the antec PSU has 42amps combined on the 12v rails
