I'm getting one.

Thanks a bunch!

EDIT: Is the $45/$400 coupon publically available or is it a personal coupon?

Too bad this is not on the Small Business side of things... I could add my 10% stackable coupon I got in my email to make it an even better deal.

Crap! I ordered the 15G version from apple.com earlier this week and it was almost the same price as you've found for the 30G model.

Actually Dell Home is giving an automatic 10% off discount on this item! Plus you do not have to pay any tax!

Also there is a new 10% off coupon for Dell Small Business that is available to everyone (Expires 05/21/2003)

I am thinking hard about getting this from Small Business as I have a 10% (email) and a 15% (catalog) coupon that would lower it to about $383 before tax.

Wouldn't that be pretty much the same thing [after tax]?

Not if your state doesn't charge tax.

That makes a lot of sense. I like states that don't charge tax. Why isn't NY one of those? ;)

Actually, you have to pay tax when you buy stuff from the internet. And seriously some state is getting pissed that their tax revenue isnt what its supposed to be and they are trying to pass legislation to get internet giants like Amazon to collect tax for them...

Yeah, FOK legislations! ;)

I think sales tax (especially on the internet) makes my top five list of most hated things.

Do you guys know if these are the Windows based units or the MAC based? I want to be able to use the USB2.0 docking unit.

There are no longer separate windows and mac units. The new iPod comes with a firewire to usb2 adapter that lets you use the cradle with usb2, but you can't charge the batter over the usb bus.

Actually, USB 2.0 support isn't here yet, and you'll need to buy the separate USB 2.0/FireWire cable for $20 MSRP.

Does anyone know if this can act as a portable HDD like the first series of Ipods? If so, does it show up as removable storage in windows explorer?

It is a portible hard drive, just like the 1st edition.

Has anyone had these ship yet from the sale last thursday?

I ordered a 30GB and they keep saying that they're out of stock.
