It is never too early. IB is old news now. Haswell has been the next big thing since Nehalem.

would be nice to know in more details what is happening with the SB-E range.

but looking at that graph (do not keep tabs on them), it appears the IVY K series will have a change come Q3, the rest of IVY is not changing until it's replacement turns up.

Equal or higher. Doesnt mean there will be a change. Its simply reserved.

Haswell will likely allow for more features added onto motherboards making mid range mobos nicer.

Actually it's the other way around.
Intel wan't to move the Controller, NIC, ect to the CPU-die
They wan't EVERYTHING on a SoC (hence the name)

Mening at mobo's will have one function.
To deliver current (power) and house the hardware (slots).

Meaning that adding IC's/Chips to a motherboard is like double confect...it''s laready on die...so why add it?

More as in more memory slots and pciE lanes.

Main features of Haswell for desktop users is the ondie VRM (Meaning all those phases gets removed from the mobo). New uarch (Conroe, Nehalem, Sandy, Haswell.). Much better IGP. And lastly much better idle and load powerconsumption.
