Ok, I am looking at getting an Alienware. Ya, there are other laptops but I like the design and need the cooling. However my concern is the graphics.

Mx15 - 240mx 512mb or 260gtx

Mx17 - ATI 4870

Any thoughts on when Alienware might upgrade either of those systems. I would really like the ATI 5800 series.

Does Nvidia really have anything better than the 240m or 260gtx for laptops?

Soon. No big deal though, you're getting a slight, maybe 20% upgrade with the 5800, and then shittier ATI drivers.

Yea, they have the 280M GTX.

Any thoughts on the GT240 or 260m when playing Dragon Age or Aion?

I know the 260m would be faster but is it really worth the cost?

I am looking the i540m, GT240m 512mb, 4GB Ram.

The GT240 Can't do shit. Ignore it. The GTX 260M I had sucked at Dragon Age @ 1920x1200.

Cooling? All laptops are designed to cool effectively at 100% load. Any laptop will handle hard gaming and heavy CPU load if it has the specs, not just Alienware.

Thanks for the heads up on the 240/260.

I also get discounts for HP. They have the Envy which comes with ATI 5830 and i5-540 and 4gig.

You think the 5830 is better than the 240/260 for those games. Also looking to play Star Wars knights of the old replublic when it comes out.

thanks for the help :)

I got my hands on an Alienware M15x while at microcenter looking for PC parts and I was so impressed by the design and feel that I ordered an Alienware M11x 3 days later.

Its true there are many other laptops that do it and most for a cheaper price but for sub 13 in. laptops I dont think it gets better than the M11x for the price.

M11x has the power, battery life, and mobility for under 1k. Seems it's gotten cheaper recently too
