NO - he wasn't just raped, he was gang raped by Aliens...

All kidding aside, it's sad to see this poor guy get taken to the woodshed with the price.
Ya, he's happy I'm sure, but to system builders like us we see a scam with this price.
Even if you include 100 buks per hour labor for a few hours of building he overpaid by
at least 1500...my 2 cents

for 5 percent of overall system performace decrease woulda saved you over 50 percent in price

computer performace vs. price can't be modeled by a linear function, because the performance isnt directly porportional to price.

for those of you who know or remember calculus, the derivative(in this case the change in performance) is getting smaller and smaller as prices gets higher and higher. now you know why we do calculus:)

Well if you know how to put one together than more power to you. I personally know how to so I dont buy from a distributer, I just put it together myself. What isnt being said is that not everyone knows how to put one together so they do buy from a company that does it for you. Everyone is screaming like children about the price of a computer that they bought from a manufacturer, have you SEEN the prices of Dell and Gateway? You dont even GET the high end componants that you would get out of a computer built from a gaming PC company like Alienware or Falcon. If you want perfomance and dont feel like putting it together yourself, shut up and shell out the cash. If you can build it for less, shut up and do it.

Good point Unforgiver, but the fact is still that $6500 is a helluva lot to pay for a computer. Computers depreciate waaaaay faster than all other high dollar items (appliances, cars, furniture) and unless a big chunk of that $6500 was for a 21" LCD monitor, he paid too much to be the fastest kid on the block for a year or so.
