i bought a 6500$ alienware computer and everything was awesome. then i had to send back the speakers. after that i ordered some things and each time i was either sent the wrong thing or something was amiss. therefor i tell to all of youy.. alienware computers are great but customer service is a bunch of kindergadeners. if you get an alien dont use them again after that

Good LORD that's a lot of money!
[/chris rock]

I mean, I'm an Intel whore, and that's a lot of money even for a guy like me! :)

I just did the math, and I could build three kick ass P4 2.0 systems for that... two and throw in great, high quality monitors. Including software.

I bought an Alienware almost 3 years ago. Cost me about $3K. You're right about their customer support. It was horrible. I had problems right out of the box. Several phone calls and several hours later, all was well and I really enjoyed it after that.....but I'll never buy from someone else again. Homemade on the kitchen table is the only way to go.

$6500!!! :Q That better include a P4 2.2GHz CPU, SCSI RAID5 setup, GF3 TI500 AND a 23" LCD for that kind of cash!

Holy Mother of God! With $6500 I could call in all sorts of witnesses against Alienware AND pay for all the court costs!

I bought an Alienware at the end of 1998 that cost me $3600. Top of the line at the time with a 19" monitor. Didn't have any problems with it so I didn't have to use their tech support. Between late 98 and late 2001 I replaced every component in the machine except the cpu and mobo. In the end it's averaged out to a cost of ~$100/month for that machine. I still use the monitor, but passed the computer down to my bro and now have a machine 3x as fast at 1/3 the cost.

Alienware machines are great but expensive. Would I buy from them again? No, I'd build my own. Computers are really coming down in price to the point where they are looking more like appliances. You can get a decent machine for $1000 (no, not top of the line) and replace the video card with whatever you want.

Me either. Of course, piski doesn't have a profile, so we can't KNOW where he is from.

He didn't get raped THAT much ;) The only thing in that system that could use an upgrade in the future is his processor...

Nice system, but you still payed about $2000-$3000 too much. Then again, if you're happy with it then screw what anyone else says. :)

Didn't get raped that much? I went and checked the MSRP on everything I couldn't get from newegg that is in that system and came up with $4500, and that's with inflated MSRP's for the big stuff like his printer and that DV500.
