My friend wants to buy an Alienware laptop because of its looks. He admits that he's willing to pay an extra $500 for the look/name. Now, if he was buying a Sony Vaio laptop, I wouldn't mind, but who the hell wants a huge alien head on their laptop? Also, their desktop cases are one of the ugliest things I've ever seen.

Let your friend do what he wants. Alienware still exists because people want to pay for the name.
 
So? At least he has the advantage of opinion on his side, unlike the millions of other dumbasses that think Alienware computers are the best you can get for hardware.

Would you rather have an alien head on your laptop, or a sleek silver finish? Sony Vaios are just as overpriced as Alienwares. I don't know about the qualiy of the Vaios though.
 
If you want a 8 inch thick laptop that is 10+ pounds, and can cooks eggs go right ahead. B/c this stupid kid some noob that don't know any think about comps is like my alienware beats everyones laptop so I am like why don't you bring it in and I said let me answer that question for you its 8 inches thick. he instantly shuts up and walks away.ahaha

Why does apperance matter all that much? He is stupid for buying an Alienware but if you're right that Sony Vaios are just as bad price-wise, who gives a fuck?
 
Waste of money. Reminds me of the guy bragging about his laptop having 2 ghz ram yesterday, yet didn't even have a duo core processor.

You guys are dumb. Alienware has one of the best prices on a portable gaming notebook. The M5550. Competitive with anything else out there with similar specs.

I'm just the opposite. I'd never own an Alienware because they look like ass.
 
be sure to show your friend the bose lifestyle system. he could use that for his laptop.
 
i don't hate alianware. NO way in heck would i buy one but i sure wouldnt stop anyone from buying it. if they asked my opinion of them i would tell them they are overpriced for what you get and that you can buy something as good from dell cheaper or build it for even less.

they are nothing special. they do not get special boards and cpu's. they do nothing that anyone with some PC knowledge (in building that is) can't do.
