"Alienware" cases and hot CD-ROMs...

Anyone else with one of these Hydraulic cases notice any warming problems inside the drive cover when it's closed? When I open it up after it's been closed for awhile, the faces of my drives feel fairly warm... Internal case temp doesn't seem particularly warm. Wondering if this could become a problem, and if installing some small fans in my extra 5.25" bay to suck the warm air out of the closed area would be worthwhile...

those alienware cases have the worst air flow. the heat is probably just a normal hot 50x cdrom

i'll second that...those alienware cases are all eye-candy...notice how alienware never has pictures of the front cover down...but anyways...i had a generic case that was just as bad on cooling as that...one 60mm fan as an exhaust and one 80mm fan intake...not much cooling there. as far as your temps being high with the cover on...i don't think it makes a difference.

I have an alienware case and it does have pretty bad airflow. I took matters into my own hands with a dremel and cut a 120mm hole in the side and 2 80mm holes on the top. I am running my 1ghz AXIA at 1.3ghz with a MSI pro2a (kt133) board. Cpu temps idle ~43C and loaded ~47. Fop38 (without delta, guess that makes it a fop32) with ystech 26cfm fan.

Internal cooling doesn't seem to be a huge issue... With 2 hard drives, DVD, CDRW, and a floppy, my Duron 700@900 1.825V runs between 39C idle to about 44 under load. That's with a crappy CoolerMaster HSF and thermal pad - should be better when my Swiftech and ASII arrives... That's with just the standard 80mm front intake, 60mm rear exhaust and 80mm side intake hole that came on it (all fans are Antecs). Hardware Sensors Monitor Pro shows the mobo as never more than 1-2 degrees F higher than the temperature in the room. Even with a good margin of error, that's still not bad at all. The air coming out the exhausts (60mm and PS) doesn't feel warm at all...

I was just concerned about the faces on those drives. Doesn't sound like I should be...
