Computer usage: desktop productivity and gaming.
Videocard: Gtx1080ti
Two years ago I bought LG 34UC88. I am fairly happy with it, but decided to see what new generation of monitors is out there. To that end, I bought Alienware's 34". I especially wanted to try it since it has g-Sync. However, I am not seeing much of a difference between AW and LG. What's worse, AW doesn't have build in speakers. I actually use my built in speakers often, especially when watching you tube, etc, with headphones used for gaming. I am wondering if I missed anything, or the AW isn't that much different / better than LG for my use.
Any other 34" or larger widescreen monitors that I should consider?

You went from a 60hz IPS with Free Sync to a 120hz IPS with G Sync. If you don't really care about 120hz or make much use of G Sync there wouldn't be a real reason to make a change. Unless you want 4k, HDR or felt that your current monitor had issues, I don't see any reason to pursue a different monitor.

What is higher refresh rate is supposed to accomplish? Honestly, I just thought that with my monitor being over 2 years old, there may have been something better. However, I decided not to keep Alienware as it has issues working as a second monitor with my work MacBook and lacks the speakers. I do have another g-sync (Acer X34) in bound to try.
