Alienware® PCI Express Motherboard with Intel® 915 Chipset

Hey,

Just wondering because I'm going to buy an Alienware computer with the following motherboard:

Alienware® PCI Express Motherboard with Intel® 915 Chipset

It has 1 PCI Express x16 slot. It comes with an integrated Intel graphics card, but I plan on buying a nVidia 6800 256MB Video Card,

Will 6800 fit in this motherboard? I'm not very familiar with the whole PCI Express stuff.

Thanks!

The Alienware doesn't come with a videocard?

The 6800 will fit as long as it is a PCI-Express version, and NOT AGP.

You're paying too much if you're buying an Alienware, BTW. 😉

Ah thanks for the help 🙂

It comes with a videocard (a crapp x300 ATI one), so I just went with integrated to save money. I plan on buying a 6800 myself later.

What should I buy that's comparable to an Alienware, but cheaper? I heard Alienware makes quality computers 😉

i consider voodoo and falcon-nw better than alienware abs is comperable with better case (alienware uses plastic case) and as always you could always build yourself for the price of components

lol voodoo and falcon nw are really expensive. I mean voodoo's Omen is like 5k. The case doesn't really matter, alienware's case is aesthetically pleasing and it's designed well.

I'm looking for performance for the money. The alienware im gonna get is only 1k.

What you should do is to not buy pre-assembled brand computers, but instead build your own from the best price/performance/feature components on your market.
