Aliens vs Predator 2 Demo

Hello,

I downloaded the Aliens vs Predator 2 demo and it seems really cool but I have not yet seen or been attacked by any aliens! I've seen a few blips on the radar scope but not one encounter. I've tried easy/normal/hard for the leve but still nothing.

I'd like to buy the game but I'd like to see an alien first. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Does the demo not have aliens in it (do you just get to run around)?

Yes the demo does have Aliens. Have you completed the demo and which one did you download. If I recall there was a demo for playing the Marine, Alien and Preditior. If your playing as the Marine you will see the Aliens, but they only start showing themselves mid way through the level. The first encounter is in a room where a grate on the floor and wall is damaged by an Alien trying to get through... 😉

Thanks for answering. I have the one where you can only be the marine. I just installed it so I don't know what "mid way" means in the sense of the goals of the mission. I've just been running around looking for the aliens. I guess I need to look at the mission objectives.

I like so far. Pretty scarey at first, but since I haven't seen any aliens it's not so scarey now.

Do you have the game? Do you like it? Does it get old after a while?

I just got the game in the Circuit City $5 big-box bargain bin.

You can play as alien, predator or marine. . . so far I am enjoying the alien (as a facehugger you get the "roam" the ceiling and the walls) and get revenge on the marines and predators.

This game has ATMOSPHERE. And the graphics are pretty good (running 1024x768 at 32 with everything HIgh an 2x AA on a Radeon 8500).

So far . . . HIGHLY recommended.

Good score on the big box value. The only thing they have at mine is "Emporer: Battle for Dune", or something like that.

Still debating...

I don't hear the gun firing. Is that a demo thing do you think? You hear the weapons in the retail version, right?

Yes . . . "sound" is awesome in this game - almost at the level of Thief II . . . "frightening" too as the sounds are from the movie and "positioning" is great.

AI ain't too bad either (so far).

I have seen it at other stores in the bargain bin too - just not for $5.

BTW, unless I am mistaken - there are SEVERAL AvPII demos out . . .

Well, I finally got things to start hopping by fixing the control panel, but I still don't have any sound when I fire my weapon or any other sound except the creepy, static sound and the ongoing haunting theme music.

Do you think this is the demo or something else? I have good hardware - ATI 9000 Pro 64MB and a Santa Cruz sound card.

Any ideas? Probably will order the game for shipping so I'd like to play the demo (with sound) until it gets here.

Or maybe Circuit City ($29) would price match Amazon ($15)?

Yeah I do have the game. It is quite good actually. Mind you I have only completed it as the Marine and found it quite easy even on difficult. The game gets intense, makes you jump a bit, just like the original Doom used to... 😀 Does it get old? Possibly. But thats perhaps cos I have not played it much as the Alien etc. Got about (guessing) 3rd of the way through, but never finished it, not sure why. 🙂

Is it the big box? The price tag said $29 in my store and on the shelf tag BUT rung up at the register for $5.

Go to the LINK I supplied you - PlanetAVP.com and you will get all the technical answers about SOUND your need. Several patches were issued for the game (but I don't remember any for the Demo).

The ones at CircuitCity are small boxes and are labeled $29.99. Maybe I'll have someone scan it. I downloaded the single player (multiple roles) 156MB version which I found by going to planetavp. It has full sound for me including weapons and the "bleep" when aliens are near by. Made it close to nest buy keep getting killed by emerging egg things.

It's games like this that remind me of how great it is to be a man... or maybe I should say "a boy" (still)!

I am deep in to the game as an alien . . . it's a "hoot" getting revenge on those despicable humans who are experimenting on your kin . . . and best of all is the ability to crawl on walls and ceilings at high speed - just like on the floor - AWESOME perspective!
