Heh, I was thinking more like Radeon 8500 😛 The model detail is really nice actually, the lighting and shader effects are terribad, they would have looked poor in the DX7 timeframe. Obviously this is an early build, and I'm sure things will improve significantly, but as of right now it looks like they are using some EMBM with static pre calculated lightmaps and multitexturing for most of the textures. Flat out bad. Of course, being that it is a AvP game, they have a much cooler setting to place the bad graphics in covering up an awful lot 🙂

That is very far removed from being accurate. Tesselation is always going to be slower then processing raw geometry- or perhaps stated better it can never be faster and only can be equal if you have considerable hardware dedicated to it.

Everything your GPU has to do with 'normal' geometry it has to do with tesselation- tesselation adds even more steps to the process. The advantage of tesselation is the ability to scale geometric complexity with GPU power.
