Nope. Its pretty but not a winner in my book. Been playing the demo over and over. Do not want.
For some strange reason this genre just naturally lends itself to the fantasy setting. Diablo and Titan Quest and Fate and Torchlight prove this.
Too many sci-fi and modern games suck ass. I dunno why.
If you are a classic gamer and loved Alien Breed then you will probably enjoy this if you take the time to get used to the camera/controls which are a bit awkward (and I'm half way through level 3)
If you enjoy the genre, try the demo a couple of times and then make a decision. The first playthrough to get to grips with the controls, the second to make a judegment.
shortylickens: Whilst I agree that the Fantasy setting tends to make better Action RPG games, I do find that I am enjoying Alien Breed: Impact and loved both Alien Shooter and Space Siege (despite it's flaws).
I know you are not comparing Alien Breed: Impact directly against Dibalo/TQ (action RPG) and only using them to show that the fantasy setting is more suitable for this type of action game, I feel the need to add to this that Alien Breed: Impact is not really RPG and is strictly an action game. Just to make sure no-one ends up confused
I am finding it repetitive and the running around is driving me crazy. The game for me has lost it's horror and survival atmosphere but I cannot put it down. I feel compelled to play until the next Terminal (where you can buy ammo, Health kits, weapon upgrades etc) to save the game, only to carry on to the next terminal
Great to see Team17 going back to it's classic roots to produce a good quality game for the money. I'd not have paid £30 (full price) but I think it's worth £10-15 (and pre-launch was £11.50).
Happy customer so far
