Alice won't install?

Got a strange one here.I go to install Alice and I get an install shield error."The Installshield engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched. Error loading type library/DLL" Now I did a search on iKernel.exe and it is there and I have loaded other software today.I went to EA's web site and nothing on this one.I have tried both of my CDROMS and even the networked one, no luck.The PC I have networked to mine will install the game on it no problem,I just can't get the game to install on mine.
I have an Abit KT7,Duron 600@840,VooDoo3,128 megsRAM,running WIN 98 SE. Hope someone can shed some light on this one.

Try browsing the CD in Windows Explorer & try launching the game from the Directory in there(normally setup or install)also,disable all anti-virus & anti-crash programs if you still get problems you may have a bad CD,best to phone tech support for the game & they will take you through all possible install options.

I tried those too, no luck.I shutdown blackice,McAfee,systray,and so on,all that was running was explorer.The CD is fine as it installes on 3 other computers fine.That is what is driving me nuts!I was thinking my CDROM might not like the CD, thats why I tried installing in through the network only to have the same results...no install.I have emailed tech support and waiting for an answer.BTW I downloaded the demo today and that runs just fine. arrrrrg! :disgust:
