Alias has jumped the shark

Alias has taken a big fall this year. It is deteriorating into a soap opera. The story line is concerned about who is hooking up with who more than anything else. As if that is not enough, there were 2 Melrose Place-esque cat fights in last nights episode. Furthermore, the entire season has been riddled with weak hole filled plots. I can?t wait to see how Sydney?s Dad covers up the ?virus.? What a joke. All I can say is bring on 24.

Guess I'm not that upset, then, at having missed the opener and last night's episodes. NFL in HD on ESPN is where I usually end up on Sunday evenings. 😀

You're faulting Alias for plot holes, but not 24?

Get a grip, it's entertaining TV!

Talk about a soap opera. Can you whine a little bit more?

I had no problems with the episode, it was good as usual.

I guess you were a fan of 90210 also b/c that is what this show is turning into. It is very formulaic. Every freakin week they send Syd off on a couple of her "missions." The writers are really hurting for ideas when they have to start up the cat fights and inter office love triangles.

The premise of the show dating back to midway season 1 involved Syd and Vaughn... why wouldn't they continue that ? How else do you propose they continue that part of the story without throwing in some curveballs like a third person ?

Anyway... the routes the show takes always have me guessing. JJ Abrams does a good job in explaining things - sometimes even back to season 1... from now. You think to yourself... there's NO WAY he planned this all along...

The virus... they didn't detect a virus. Marshall just thought that's all that could be re-encoded. He actually thought of himself as a failure at that point.. his reaction - priceless.

i thuoght the practice had jumpedthe shark, but its good again oddly enough. they dumped all the dead weight.

I pretty much stopped watching when they decided I was too stupid to understand the whole double-agent "We think we work for the CIA but we really work for SD-6 except for the Bristows who really do work for the CIA" concept and flaccidly destroyed SD-6.

It got pretty lame after that.

Nope. Catherine Manheim is still there. That's a lot of weight there.

Where did the term "jumped the shark" come from? That's a new one to me.

Alias came apart after SD-6 was shut down. I keep watching for now mainly because Garner puts a new sexy outfit on display every episode. That will never get old. 😀

What do you watch ?

If I had to guess, it would be a steady diet of Style and HGTV 😉

only in the nude...

Science Channel, History/HI, ESPN(no, i dont watch playmakers), IFC, NFL on sundays, news channels. TV sucks, IMO.

It goes back to when Fonzie literally jumped over a shark on 'Happy Days'.

Ah, so then it means something along the lines of, "A plot device engineered to keep a series on life support"?

24 is the best action show ever on TV

I think 'jumped the shark' has jumped the shark...the whole thing is lame imo

yup🙂

and no, it doesn't mean plot device, it just means the obvious point where a formerly great show begins its steep decline from staying on air too long. i bet you can think of many shows who stayed too long🙂

alias is only on its 3rd season.

Yep, and that it's all downhill from there.

Agreed on the 'outfit of the week', too. 😀

its because i'm not one of the 95% of the people here who take a cocktail of xanax, paxil, and quaaludes to destroy their libido and make them feel happy or rather not sad.

and yeah i have the maxim at home 😀
