Ali5+256/384MB RAM

I have an Asus P5A motherboard with a 128MB DIMM, the chipset can only cache 128MB, however the chipset can take upto 384MB. Will adding a 256MB DIMM speed the system up or slow it down? (ram is just SO affordable right now)

if you are running a k63, or k62+, or k63+, the board will handle more ram, if you are just running k62, then no.
