Algebra Parenthesis, Brackets, and Braces.

(2+6^2) -5^2 +4 {3(9-2) -5[6-2(21-19)]}

The way I understand this, all parenthesis, brackets, and braces share priority, however you are supposed to start inside and work your way out.

So. . .

(38) -5^2 +4 {3(7) -5 [6-2(2)]}

to

(38) -5^2 +4 {3(7) -[10]}

to

(38) -5^2 +4 {11}

to

13 + 44

Which would make the answer 57.

Aha Good catch. I'm terrible at math. That was supposed to be a 19, instead of a 9, so the 2 is correct(im pretty sure at least). Such typos do not inspire much confidence.

Was your point on the one with the 4(2) that I should have completed the entire bracket problem then? Does this look better? (38) -5^2 +4 {3(7) -5 [8]} wouldn't change the outcome of the problem though. . . At least the way I'm doing it. I tried to clean things up though.

Anything else stand out to you?

You can't loose me in Algebra but Calculus Express's Freedom.

Algebra is confined where as Calculus is a Language and predicts Probability.

No. The point is that multiplication comes before subtraction. So you do 2 x 2 = 4, then you do 6 - 4 = 2, and finally 5 x 2 = 10. This will change the outcome of the problem.

Was in a bit of a hurry and left it saying something very wrong at the end there, transcription error D:

I'm taking 16 credits and it's got me a bit frazzled. Hopefully things will settle into a rhythm soon, as it is I hardly have time to argue on P&N.
