Algebra 9 Quickie

Are you sure some of those aren't supposed to be multiplication symbols? I read negative x cubed times negative y squared raised to 49 x raised to the 3yz raised to the fifth, and the entire expression is squared. It seems a little steep for 9th grade to me.

Edit: Alright, that's a little better.

(-x)^3(-y^2)^4(x^3yz^5)^2

As it's written there, take the 4 and multiply it to the 2, and -1^4 is 1. Then you have (-x^3y^8)(x^3yz^5)^2 Next, take the other 2, and that gives you (-x^3y^8)(x^6y^2z^10) Now add like terms, and you get -(x^9y^10z^10). That's as simple as it gets. Check my algebra though, I didn't bother to check for a mistake.
 
Just multiply the exponent inside the parenthesis to the one outside.


-x^3 -y^8 x^6 y^2 z^10


(spaces uses to read easier, remove them)

then combine like terms by adding the exponents...

-x^9 -y^10 z^10
