I've forgotten something to do with factoring...if somebody could show steps for these, or if one would adequately explain the rest, I'd appreciate it.

m^2-k^2+6k-9

a+b+3a^2-3b^2

<< I've forgotten something to do with factoring...if somebody could show steps for these, or if one would adequately explain the rest, I'd appreciate it.

m^2-k^2+6k-9

m² - k² + 6k - 9

(m+3)(m-3) - k(k+6)

a+b+3a^2-3b^2
>>

3a² - 3b² + a + b

a(3a+1) - b(3b-1)

distributing, conjegates and using LCD's and GCF's are your best friends.

<< I got that far, it factors further. The answer according to my book is: (a+b)(1+3a-3b) >>

well the GCF of that is a+b, just look for the GCF if youre stuck. works every time.

3a² - 3b² + a + b

(a+b)(3a+3b+1)

you know how to multiply that?
