I might have been all over this when I was 12, but was that show really good enough to go to DVD?

I used to love this show when it was on. When I caught it recently on cable, I found out that sadly it doesn't hold up too well. 🙁
 
alf was the bomb, i got the plush one still, we tried playing boilliabaseball or whatever they call it by hitting fish with a bat, fun!
 
i remember watching family guy's edited out scenes and they actually had alf as part of it.
