Indeed. Count your blessings. Global IT corps have been decimating their U.S. workforces for a couple decades. I know a couple guys who missed their pension cutoffs by days or weeks. No pension for you....
For instance, the 401k for myself is 100% match up to 5%, would be 6% if I was hired a year earlier. Still pretty darn good comparatively. Hired 2014 or later, 100% match up to 2%. And since wages are lower than previous generations, that measely amount hurts even more.
Oh, and btw, the company doesn't put in their match for the year until the end, if youre let go before december 15th, you dont get that years company match either. If you're 50+, that could be 20k you don't get.
Outside of my employer, organizations are doing similar tactics, laying off entire IT departments and putting it out to contactors, they call it "outsourcing", but in reality it's H1-B's coming to the states and displacing U.S. workers....
Dude, That does suck. I do feel for you.
We get 75% match up to 9% on the 401K and it is paid in on each paycheck.
