Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gets to Washington D.C. and immediately fights for climate policy.

Meh, good for her, but Pelosi had already announced that select committee on climate change would be back four days ago. But would love to see her input on a Green New Deal.

I like the young people nowadays. They are giving me hope for America.

I don't. She is an outlier these days... I am not at all enamoured by the fact that only 31% of age 18-29 bothered to get off their asses and vote. Best result in 7 midterms but pathetic to say the least. It is, however, a start.... It is sad that those who will be the most affected by Trump and the GOP running roughshod on our government and economy in the year 2018 are most apathetic about the future it guarantees them. The Internet killed normal social interaction and in general civic-mindedness... Our World is fucked...

From the story:

" "I just want to let you know how pride I am of each and every single one of you for putting yourselves, and your bodies, and everything on the line to make sure that we save our planet, our generation, and our future," Ocasio-Cortez said "

I am pride of her too and pride of the fact she's the new leader of the left-wing Democrat movement.

Should she maybe not take a meeting with Pelosi instead of joining a protest outside her office? She’s a member of Congress now. Someone let her know she can do that.

Yeah, it is pretty pathetic, but still, political views are sticky, and turnout increases with age.

I see people talking to themselves which is the only real drawback to the ignore list... this thread has clearly triggered a fury of sock puppets and VPN address switches!

Well done OP...

What's interesting is to see a leftward shift in voting patterns among millennials starting with Trump. Slow's articles are talking about some studies conducted several years ago. If millennials really are more conservative than we think, then they're Trump hating conservatives. Or maybe they've shifted leftwards in direct response to Trump. If there ever was a possibility of millennials not being an overwhelmingly liberal generation, they blew that by electing Trump.

Oh yeah. She's brilliant:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/amazon...ents-are-outraged-over-long-island-city-plan/

I'll laugh my ass off if Bezos pulls out of there.

I’ll admit I didn’t read your link however it looks like what I read earlier. She is pointing out why a multi billion dollar company needs tax breaks to open an office that will raise the average rent and make those tax payers cover the tax discount for Amazon.
This is definitely a good talking point to think about.

That could have just been an error by the journalist in writing the article. Any commentary on the protest or issue?

Yep. Anyone who claims otherwise is paid to do so... You can't run from numbers... math... Although the turnout was unspectacular is was a total blue tidal wave...

https://www.usnews.com/news/politic...-out-in-historic-numbers-early-estimates-show

Now if they can just get their old pot smoking, acid dropping, free loving hippie parents who have become self-loathing conservatives in their waning years to get their heads out of their assess... Matters not. They will die off soon and be replaced by Americans who used to be called the minority...

66% Democratic vote among 18-39 year olds is really, really bad for the future of the GOP. Think about 2020, with current 16-17 year olds eligible to vote and two more years worth of baby boomers gone ... Trumptards have a huge demographic problem. They're going to be an incredibly short-lived blip in history.
