Alex Rodriguez will be in my opinion. A-Rod can pretty much do it all offensively and defensively...well...at shortstop anyways. He's an adequate third baseman but he's great at shortstop.

Pujols is a monstrous hitter but his defense is ok at the very best and is not an all around great player.. he's a great hitter.

Arod - he already has 400+ home runs, and proven gold gloves. pujols is a great hitter, but his 1B defense needs some work. i love watching them both play.

I don't know....Pujols has been extremely consistent in his first four years. I would like to see a side by side stat sheet of the totals of Pujols's first four seasons vs. Arod's first four full seasons.

As for hitting, I think Pujols is the only player to have at least 30 hrs his first four seasons. Statistically speaking, through the end of 2004 Pujols has played 631 games with 160 hrs, while in that same relative timespan Arod hit about 148.

Fielding wise though, you would probably go with Arod. He has played the two toughest positions practically flawless.

Edit: This looked a whole lot cleaner in the preview window. Sorry for the crappy layout.
I gues cut and paste is not the savior of the free world.

Yea.. offensively Pujols has been stronger his first 4 season. mmm...Pujols was born on 1980 so that means he's 25... he looks older than that. I wonder if thats his dominican age. Well..whatever his age is he'll be a force for a long time as long as he stays injury free.

Note that Rodriguez started at 18 and was playing full time at 20. Pujols started full time at 21. So, Rodriguez will have an extra year or two worth of stats, assuming they retire at the same age.

At 25, Pujols leads in slugging %, OPS, adjusted OPS, while Rodriguez leads in Runs, hits, total bases, doubles, HR, and RBI.
