Alex Chiu and his Immortality Device

I don't remember how I came across his site, but it's an chinese guy from California who claims to have invented an immortality device. It's just plainly a finger ring with two magnets that are supposed to be worn on each pinky at night. That should by some weird effect cause you not to age anymore and even become younger (wonder if you'll become a baby one day?).

He has all kinds of testimonials on his site, but I have the feeling that what those people did feel was a placebo effect. This effect can be very strong sometimes (one studie found placebos to be 30% as effective as the real deal for killing pain), so I suspect that's all what's behind it.

I wondered if he was a crook trying to get money out of people, but he really seems to believe in his mission. He offers a free give-away program where you can get the rings for free, so he can't make much money by it. Maybe someone here has tried them once? I'd like to hear from someone with common sense how he thinks about those rings and their effects.

That's his site:

Tried it. I couldn't get the damn ring to stay on because they were neodynium and kept getting stuck together.

Lol they had a feature on Unscrewed (techtv) that interviewed people with crazy inventions. When they talked with this guy, he sounded, as you might imagine, completely insane. These rings do nothing and its just a crazy guy trying to promote his crazy ideas

Why don't one of you guys buy TONS of them and put them on all toes and fingers every night and then give me a call in about 50 years and let me know how you're doing.

This should be in Hot Deals! I bought a pair of the Foot Braces plus a pair of Neodymium Rings. I'm going to live forever!

And did you feel anything when you put them on? There were people saying it gave them fast heart beat and a feeling of wellness right after putting them on. Though I still suspect that to be some kind of placebo effect.

Alex Chiu also offers a broad range of articles about how he thinks the world will be in the future. Teleportation, the Messiah will show up, one World Government and things like that. If you're bored and want something weird to read, go for his site...

No I felt ABSOLUTELY nothing. Just really uncomfortable with plastic not well fitting rings on my fingers.

And for what reason? Darering to doubt Chiu's device? Also the reason why I registered was because I had the urge to add my thoughts to the Korean Girls thread and mentioning this rings came after that... ;)

Yes, I know. What's your problem, you know what a placebo is? And that this can really cause people to get strong reactions?

From his website on building your own rings:

Watch out for the polarities. If you put the rings on with the wrong polarity, you could get sick within hours!

I like to prove it. I got two rare earth magnets here. I'll update at lunchtime.

Also:

The device is believed to allow YOU to stay young forever! I do not claim that my invention will protect you from accidental death or death caused by diseases. I insist on saying it's possible for you not to physically age!

So basically you aren't immortal, you just don't age.

EDIT: Magnets put together, finger in middle, snap. Looking for ice now. I can see where the sick comes into play now.

A person who pats themselves on the back for being slightly skeptical of someone claiming to have made an immortality device out of magnets is the worst kind of stupid...

The internet is the place for immortality devices, fool-proof predictions for the future, and everything else. If it's on the internet, it's always true. The media wants to keep it secret so they can buy them all for themselves.

I've purchased this device and I must say everything he claims is true.

I used to suffer from several diseases such as Hysteria and Virginity but now I'm cured.
