Aldi Medion pc coming back on closeout?

I was at my local Aldi's last week, and asked the manager if any of the Medion pc's were still available. He said yes, and Aldi's was going to put them on closeout. He said there were too many of them nationwide for Aldi's to keep in inventory. He "thinks" they will be $200 cheaper than they were. He said not all stores will have them, so you'll have to check around. If you check Aldi's site, you'll see the advertising lists March 31 as the sale date. Of course the manager could be wrong about the price.

What was the price before? I never got one of these but it looks like a sweet like CS station. Thanks in advance.

Looks like they will include a 19" monitor now. I would expect the $899 price to still apply since they are adding on a 19" monitor.

On a sidenote, Office Depot (at least in Southern California/Los Angeles Area) is now selling the MedionPC. Unfortunately, it's a lot more than the Aldi price (I believe it's the same computer but costs like $1,199.99). It's not listed on the Office Depot Website though.

stopped by Aldi today, big banner in front window about this computer, also includes wireless mouse/keyboard and wireless joystick-gamepad. Banner said starts 3-31-03 and their were none in store to look at. No price given on banner.

I've had three medions in a row straight out of the box with bad video cards. 1 worked for about a week, the rest never did.

My Medion works just fine. I've been using the powervcr to make video cd's from my vhs tapes. I think the DDR is 333mhz. I asked the store manager about the monitors, and he said he didn't think they would lower the price on them. I doubt if they are going to throw a monitor in with this.

I saw the monitor at my local Aldi and must say it was really crappy. Steep curve with uninspiring colors. I would spend a little more money and get something better. Now, if anybody could tell me where I might find that multifunction front panel....

Anyone know if the monitor is optional? Like would it be $200 cheaper w/o the monitor and the same $899 price with monitor.

Also, what's the warranty/guarantee on these? Since ppl said they had bad video cards, I'm wondering if I get a bad one, will I be able to call someone for a replacement or something.

Sorry about that last empty post.

The manager at the local Aldi's in St. Louis, MO said she was told (unconfirmed) that the price would be $699. She told me they are the units that didn't sell on Black Friday. I don't know about the extras (monitor, mouse, etc.), but will check the next time I'm there.

Agreed, I have one too. I rebuilt mine into another case and added another stick of ram. Excellent gaming rig if you can gank one for $699.

Yes ,I also added another stick of 256m I did have thoughts of transfering to another case (this one does run alittle on the warm side) I did replace all the ide cables with rounded ones( SVC has them on Sale Right now) Which did seem to help somewhat

Those of you who have this PC- how is the motherboard? I assume that it is a Medion board... which chipset? Any overclocking options or special features? Any info on specs? Their website has no info that I can find...

If anybody is going to "gut" their Medion, I would be interested in buying that front transfer panel. Please PM me if you have one.

One year warranty, it says they offer free pickup and delivery, which I figure in some cases means shipping it, but they pay for it.

Don't have a PC, but my girlfriend bought a 2.2 Ghz laptop when they had them. She isn't a heavy user, but it hasn't given her any problems.

As most people know, Aldi came from Germany, and we have had a couple foreign exchange students from Germany, and they both have Medions. One a PC, one a laptop. Once the PC had a problem, he called the hotline, and he said that there was someone at his door that evening to pick it up.

For what it's worth, hope it helps.

EDIT

Remember that this place only accepts cash and debit cards - no credit cards and (I think) no checks.

Correct. Only cash and debit. First time my mom ever went there (6 or 7 years ago), she bought over $100 worth of stuff, and then found out they wouldn't take checks, so she had to leave everything and go to a bank and cash a check. Swore she would never go there again.

Goes there about every other week. 🙂
