Question Alder Lake - Official Thread

With the release of Alder Lake less than a week away and the "Lakes" thread having turned into a nightmare to navigate I thought it might be a good time to start a discussion thread solely for Alder Lake.

Not only does he state "almost everything" not "absolutely everything" but also he qualifies it with "at 142 watts".

All factors that I accounted for. Or are you seriously going to claim that "almost everything" is best represented by an embarrassingly parallel HPC benchmark?

Hell, even just looking at professional workloads, which are already much more representative than primegrid, well the numbers speak for themselves.

And then if we start talking about tasks with even worse threading, it's not going to be any better.

To be clear, I was talking about benchmarks, that at full power in benchmarks (multi-threaded usually) the 5950x only does 142 watts, and wins MOST of them.

You are talking about the subset of embarrassingly parallel benchmarks that seem to be your sole reference point when it comes to Alder Lake. But you bring those up not only as the expected use case (rather than acknowledge they're an unrepresentative niche workload), but even when responding to comments directly stating a different one (e.g. gaming).

Wow, wait, because he has cancer, he is unable to be a corporate shill??? I have screenshots of him saying he has unreleased AMD CPUs. Look, I got ban once because I accused Rollo of being a shill, but now I have screen shots of a member who says they have CPUS that are not released to the public and that same person is shaming the competition and providing recommendations for said CPU?

So because he's had cancer, we should give him a pass on lying about a CPU just because he (by his own admission) hates the company in question? Again, let's be perfectly clear that this isn't just a matter of different priorities and preferences. His most recent example showed quite clearly that he doesn't care what the data is from, just that it shows AMD winning. And frankly, do we have any reason to believe his stance on power consumption isn't similar?

Well, he almost immediately proceeded to prove my point by insisting that the 12900k ~= 11900K in MT workloads. If that doesn't convince you that he has an agenda, then what would?
