I was going to do a google battle, but alcohol would definitely win. If anyone knows the chemical symbol of alcohol and hydrogene peroxide (H2O2, I believe) post the google battle.
some you would use neither, you would use a salene solution.
The problem with hydrogen peroxide is that it kills any infectious cells and all the new cells that are growing to seal the wound. Thus it just takes longer to heal.
Hydrogen Peroxide will F you up quick. last time i did that i woke up 3 days later and could only see out of my periferal vision...nothing in the middle.
95% alchol (20% is not as effective) also some bacteria have a catalayse enzyme that will render the peroxide useless. An even match although I think in practice ethanol is a bit better
Alcohol is useful for cleaning intact skin, but shouldn't be used on wounds - for a start, it stings like mad, and secondly, it can damage the delicate unprotected tissues.
Best thing for a wound is clean water, optionally with a small amount of a mild soap.
