If I want to get trashed and black out I put down half a handle of something within 6 hours of drinking. Usually I'll pass out and wake up the next morning still drunk so I'll be able to skip the hangover.
A good night though is probably ~10 shots.

If I drink at a rate of a beer every 45 to 60 minutes I can keep drinking for days.

I have learned that to stay out of trouble*:

1. Eat a full meal a hour before I start drinking.
2. Every four hours or so eat something with protein, fat, and carbohydrates.
3. Drink a glass of water every couple of hours.

*Trouble defined as spending the night in the bathroom, having to make apologies the next morning, or finding your friends' or your SO's girlfriends utterly irresistable.

I voted 12-18 but when it starts getting that high I usually don't remember how many drinks I had.

Oh yeah and lots of SHENS in this thread.
