Hi
I have a motherboard with an integrated ALC882 chipset. When I got the motherbaord I had naively presumed 882 =882D and i'll get dolby digital output. I looked around the web and saw the 882D/882M/882H mentioned but not a plain 882. Also from some sites I read the difference was in the codec? I presume when they say this they're referring to the hardware itself and not any possible software updates?.

In essense my question is can get the 882 be software updated to 882D? Also 882M mentions multi-room streaming whats that? (both digital and analog out?)
The only relevant info I found was http://dolby.com/consumer/pc/pcee2.html#MS

Thanks for the reply Peter. I've been to the manufacturer's site. Just wanted to be sure that I was understanding it right that all three are different products and not a result of different drivers/software bundled etc. Also some of the differences are detailed on the link i had in my original post but there was any detailed spec document that I could look up

Looks to me like the D is a different product, and the rest is software bundles.
