The music would have come out in the early seventies I believe (I was just a kid) but it was saxophone, drum set, guitars, and almost completely instrumental. Sort of a mix of R&B and rockabilly stuff and I would have sworn it was The Ventures but it's doesn't seem to be (I've checked their official website).
Anyway, the album cover is yellow with a blue square in the middle. There is a redheaded kid winking at you and across the lower area in red letters is what my memory says is "Ooh-foo-pah-doo" on it. The only vocal I remember is this deep voice that comes on at the beginning of one track that says "Smokey, part one ..." and then this upbeat sax kicks in.
I'd like to get this music again but without knowing anything about the group, etc I can't seem to find it.
Anyone out there with a clue that could help me in my search? I've been digging in Google for a while now with no luck
Thanx in advance for any help!
