Albatron's KI690-AM2 - Where is it?

Since Albatron, back on April 10, 2007, garnered ?the Inquirer?s? famous ?Best Mobo of CeBIT? award with their KI690-AM2 they don?t seem to be able to produce it. The KI690-AM2 hasn?t shown up at any retail outlet in the US that I know of. I wonder why? Maybe they thought that a price of $350 might be interpreted as somewhat of a gouge by consumers. Or else, maybe they just can?t build?em.

My thoughts exactly!

An unnamed source told me they were "in production" over a month ago...

So what's the hold up?

Bring on the KI690! (And bring it out for less than $300!)

Too bad the sole slot is PCI and not a PCI-E 16x. :(

The board is actually a great idea because AM2 chips are fairly low power in their idle state, but are also capable of hardcore performance when needed. The chipset choice is also top notch (until a better IGP comes out).

I haven't seen ANY of Albatron's motherboard products available in the US(the stores I frequent anyway) in quite some time.:(

I've been looking for this board, too. I am *so* stoked on the component video outs it comes with. Every other board I would like to use is underpowered, or requires an adapter plate for component...

Still no US seller, so I contacted a Japanese importer and I'm going to see if I can get my hands on one of these so I can stick it in the perfectly beautiful and appropriate Lian-Li PC-C35A case.

It might be possible to get a bulk discount on these things from the importer.. is anyone interested in a group order to get a few of these badboys stateside? This is just a poll right now - I haven't heard whether I can really get them, or how much they will be yet.

I got an answer about importing this board. It can be done! That 'Users-Side' link actually has a US presence in San Jose, CA. I sent them an email asking if they could import the board and they said yes! They quoted me for $298, shipped directly to me. Said it would be about two weeks or so to get it. Send them an email here - sjstore@users-side.co.jp - and ask for a quote. They will send you forms that need to be filled out and get the process started.

Happy holidays,
