Albatron PX84PEV PRO high temp weirdness?

Ok, so I snagged a P4 2.4 and an Albatron mobo since I didn't really want the extra bells and whistles the other boards had.

Now I'm puzzled, I stuck Alpha's P4 cooler on there with my usual thin layer of (AS3 this time). From all sides the cooler appears to be in nice even contact with the P4 but idling under XP I get a processor temp of 69C under Sandra! the max temp I can get it up to is 71.5C but this is WAY high for a P4, correct? Case temp is running in the 30's. I've foolishly even tried overclocking my processor by bumping the FSB up to 150 in single increments with no increase in processor temps and with the appropriate increases in processor capacity according to Sandra.

According to intel 70C is the max safe temp for this proc. What gives? Is there a chance I have a proc with a defective heat spreader?
I'm just boggled at this point.

Are your temps the same in the BIOS as sandra? Start the machine up, go into BIOS, and in the hardware monitoring section, see what temp the BIOS says. Then boot to WIndows, and see if it comes up the same..Look to see if Albatron has any BIOS updates yet..Good luck

Sandra is using the wrong temp sensor thinking it's your computer. Use MBM or something else and change the sensor to read off of the P2 sensor. I guarantee you're computer is not even close to 71C. And if you look in the bios, you'll see the true temp like GonzoDaGr8 suggested.
