I dont know what the crap happened but I was typing my topic and it just posted it while I was typing!!!

Ok!

Here's my question.

Which is better the onboard graphics of the Albatron PX845GE Pro II OR an ATI Radeon 7500?
I've the the Radeon, I just want to know if buying the G will be better than what I've got, I'm planning on getting a better videocard later on anyway. All input is thanked by me right now! Thankyou

My first post.

Your Radeon 7500 will completely destroy the onboard 845GE VGA. Stick with your 7500, and get the Albatron PX845PE Pro II instead of the GE version (assuming you can only choose between these two Albatron motherboards).

Evan Lieb gave you some excellent advice Funky...the "PE" with a 7500 is a much better choice..

Also..

Welcome to Anandtech!

I can have choices other than Albatron, it's just that I've heard such good things about them. I'm in the process of figuring out what's best for me and at the best price for me to build a new computer (it will be the first I've ever built also). I've read pretty much all of the articles about the boards, compared prices and so on. I saw the Albatron boards and how much people liked them so I figured that would be who I would go with. I'm just not sure about the RAM, with the PX845PE Pro II would the best memory for me be Corsair 3200 512 mb CL2? or would CL 2.5 work just as good? that's what I don't understand is the difference between the two of those, and I also can't figure out if the max ram that can go into this particular motherboard is 2 gigs, does this one stick of 512 (since it's DDR) count as 1024 mb? I'll list the computer that I think I want to build, and if you wouldn't mind, please tell me what you think. I'll take any suggestions because I don't wanna screw up or something.

Albatron PX845PE Pro II
$114.48 from mwave.com

CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series 512MB 64MX64 PC-3200 CMX512-3200 512MB PC3200 DDR RAM - OEM 64x64 184-Pin, CAS2.5 -Unbuffered With Heat Spreader, Requires DDR Supported Motherboard - Lifetime Warranty.
$158.00

$236.00

Western Digital 80 GB 8 MB Cache - 7200 RPM Ultra ATA/100 (from Newegg.com)
$109.00

and of course a case and a proper power suppy. Which makes me ask another question, what kind of power supply do I need to look for? Because I've read that the P4 has that extra power plug or something that some power supplies come with, you understand what I'm asking? If so, then...help please.

I'd also like it if you suggested an inexpensive yet nice looking case.

THANKYOU VERY MUCH FOR ANY HELP!

Thanks for the advice and the links to the cases. Thanks Insane. I think I'm gonna go to bed now. It's late. I'll check back some time tomorrow or Sunday and see if anybody else has any advice for me. Thankyou

Oh yeah, you said they come in other colors, are they offered at newegg.com? or do I have to go to chieftecs homepage or something? Thanks again...

Funky, your mobo question is a moot one because no reseller in the US has the Albatron PX845GE Pro II.

FunkyMcGunk,

This response is to your second post. A 512 MB stick of DDR ram is not 1024MB.
DDR stands for double data rate. Here is a website that can explain it if you want.

DDR

Also difference between CAS 2 and CAS 2.5 is Latency, Cas 2 is better, but costs more.
As Insane3D said, If you can afford it, go for it.

I'm waiting for the Albatron PX845GE Pro II also, my thinking being that the GE will provide graphics for now until I can buy a 9700AIW. The extra $10-15 for the GE over the PE is still cheaper than an AGP card to carry me through the waiting period. But I'm a bit reluctant to have an 8x card that can only run at 4x and was going to go SiS648 except it seems many users are having trouble w/9700 cards on that chipset. Any thoughts on this dilema? Thanks!
