OH, HI ATOT! In January my buddy (Phiur) and I are going out to Colorado for some skiing. We are road tripping it and driving from Albany, NY to Chicago on Day 1 and from Chicago to Hideaway Park, CO on Day 2.

We're looking for any roadside attractions that you guys may know of that are along the way. We are stopping at the Iowa 80 Truckstop but we don't have any other places to really go. Any help you guys can offer is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

No advice (other than just go skiing at Hunter), but please take plenty of wallpaper-size pics.

Have fun.

All I can say is good luck with nebraska. LOL what a wasteland. I hope I never have to make that trip ever again.

Anywhere outside of Albany will be more exciting. ;)

I lived near there for a while. It's an OK place to live but not the most exciting place.

Do not plan on getting there in the same day. You will be exhausted by the time you get into Denver, it will be completely dark. You have another 30+ minute drive on I70 which could be snowy and/or closed, it will not be 70mph. then you have another 30 miles of 20-30mph road that will be snow covered and windy. No lights at all.

recommend that you bunk overnight in the Denver area and then continue on the next morning.
You will be rested and it will be a lot safer.

Even if both of you are swapping out the driving, you will both be exhausted after 2 days of driving.

Really depends on the driver.

When i moved from NYC to colorado 3 years ago, i did it in 2 days. I-80 from NYC the entire way.

left nyc at 4am.
Stopped just outside of Des Moines the first night, around 8pm.
left Des Moines at 4am.. arrived Denver by 6pm.

i wasn't really that tired. Went to sleep around 1am.
