I know, I was picked on. I hit the guy in the face, he hit me back, and the PE teacher separated us and we were both suspended for half a day.

These days, it's all guns and grenades. It's just crazy.

It was definitely a big shock up here. North Pole is a little town about 20 miles south of where I live. Pretty much the last place you'd expect to have anything like this happen.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to them and how many kids were actually involved or knew about what was going to happen. I guess the good news in all of this is that someone found out and reported them. Same thing with those kids in Kansas.

I guess we're just more alert for these kinds of things now. Sad but true.

Alaska is a place where you dont go fishing without a powerful handgun like 44 magnum to protect yourself from bears. A lot of people have guns and hunt alot. So guns are available everywhere. However, I lived in Anchorage for a year and a half and I never once felt threatened by anybody. This was in 1988, but I am guessing it is still a nice peaceful place where people would rather hunt bear and catch fish than hurt people.

On the outskirts where there are no big outposts often kids are homeschooled do to a lack of any other way to do it. So they are perhaps more willing to go that route.
