Alarm clock with iDevice dock

MotionMan

Lifer
I am looking for an alarm clock with a dock for iDevices (in this case, recent gen Touch, iPhone 3 and 4 (and beyond)).

I want it to work very well as a clock and an alarm. Being able to play music from the iDevice is a plus - but acting as a clock and an alarm are my primary concerns.

Suggestions? Personal experience?

I have one I bought a few years ago at Sears. It's from a brand called "iLive" and I think I paid more for it than I should have (~$80 iirc).

Works adequately as a clock and pretty well for an alarm. I only use radio on the alarm though (wake up to NPR) so I don't have much to say about wake from iPod. Only complaint about it is that sometimes when I've been using the Sirius app on my iPhone and turn it off by unplugging the headphones instead of shutting it off, the clock radio gets confused and plays Sirius loud as shit when it's time to get up instead of NPR at a reasonable volume. Better than the alternative of playing Sirius very quietly and not waking me up though.

I've used it a few times to play music off the iPhone and it works ok at that as well. It's isn't a good set of bookshelf speakers, but it sounds pretty good for a clock radio.

For what it's worth I have had a couple of iDevice alarm clocks and always end up just using the alarm on the iDevice because it's invariably easier and quicker to set. The alarm clock just becomes a compact speaker that happens to have a clock on it. I am currently using an iHome one I bought at Costco for $29 or so. I had a Sony with vastly better sound but it conked out after about a year. You might also want to consider a compact speaker set and an app that shows the time on the iDevice (I believe there is a free Belkin one).

I have an ICF-C1iP.

Ironically I've not used the dock since... hmmm, probably since I bought it, though that wasn't the intention obviously. I ditched the Touches a long time ago in favour of the Zune HD's, and the 4, being pathetically fragile (and my third-string phone in any case) was too much of a hassle to remove from it's swaddling case, with which it wouldn't dock.

But in terms of function, if you can track one - or I think Sony did an update of that before discontinuing any decent iPod clock radios - down, then it does pretty much what you said you wanted it to do. It also has an automatic time setting system which works like magic. No really.

Holy crap. I was just browsing some on Amazon this morning. I currently have a SONY alarm clock with dual alarms (actually 4 of them) which took a spill.

I've been looking for something that would wake me up gently like this one does...with a dock.

I've got the Logitech one. The S400i. Good audio quality and not too expensive. Maybe a little bass heavy. I love it though.
