Apparently Remedy shared much of the pro-pc sentiment. There a QR code in Alan's apartment that scans to: "Huh. Turns out this isn't too bad even if you're not sitting on a couch when you play it. Who knew!"

It's interesting so far. It's main problem seems to be that it's writers are writing about a writer writing, while referencing other writers. Feels a bit like literary masturbation.

Another thing I'd like to add: This game plays better with an Xbox 360 controller. If you have one, definitely use it.

Also turn off the HUD. Makes things much more immersive.

LOL! That is awesome! They're making fun of their own spin. I remember that was the reason they gave for going Xbox-only (made me really mad too :p)

Game downloaded, but I won't play until I'm done with The Darkness II. And I did finish it on the Xbox already... but the screenshots look a million times better than the console. Game was fun so can't wait! Plus the two episodes later :)

Play fine here with the keyboard/mouse

Combat is not very good in the game IMHO

The game is worth the $20 I paid for it.....but I really dont see what all the hype was about the game.

Played it a bit (finished first two episodes). This game is so much fun! I forgot how great it was... The graphics are so sharp and atmospheric (think Witcher2-sharp). The special effects are amazing and together with the sounds and voice overs really add to an enjoyable gaming experience!

Game runs smooth as butter on my OC'ed HD5850 and Q9450 on High (all maxed, AAx4). Xbox 360 gamepad works great with the game (no surprise there :p).

Love the narration and the atmosphere the game has. There are so many small details in this game, the developers really put a lot of effort into creating it (makes it even sadder it was a console exclusive for 2 years :().

If there's something I find awkward, it's the character faces. They look off...

Anyway, definitely worth 23€ (what I paid for the CE version on GMG). Highly recommended - with the vastly improved graphics this is really a new game in my eyes (I own the X360 version too).

Can't wait to finish it so I can play the two DLCs!

EDIT: Funny thing, the game looks better than its cutscenes... The difference is not as drastic as Deus Ex : HR, but still easily noticeable.

I just got this and want to start playing, but there is no SLI profile for the game, so it is murdering a single 480 badly and giving me 25-30fps. :(

With what CPU? I'm playing it with a 480 at max settings with no issues? The graphics while good, are not GREAT. The atmosphere is really good though. I think my favorite thing was the TV parodies and the "taken" dialog.

He does have a 30" 2560x1600 monitor. I'm gaming at 1920x1080 (a HDTV actually which I use for everything).

I can imagine double the pixels would tax a single GTX480 - I'm probably around 40-50 FPS with the game, so his a bit faster GTX480 would fit just right at 25-30FPS at his res.

Let's hope SLi gets support fast, as the game is really fun :)

Remedy didn't, it was MS that shafted PC gamers back when this was first released by making it a 360 exclusive. They had the publishing rights at the time. Remedy is publishing the PC version themselves on Steam so buying it now means you are supporting them and not M$. That alone was reason enough for me to purchase the PC version even though i've already played it on the 360. But at least now i'll be able to play through the DLC in high res with a KB/M setup.. Yes, please.

Is this confirmed?

MS gets no money from the pc version of this game?

What I find amazing is near-zero loading times. And it's not even on my SSD... It runs super smooth on my not-the-newest PC (my GPU has 2 years, CPU has almost 4 years :awe:). A lot of polish and optimization went into creating this game :)

As for Microsoft - the only logo that shows up in the game is Remedy's - for like 3 seconds when you launch the game. Then you're immediately taken to the main menu. Also Steam says Developer and Publisher is Remedy.

The only reference to MS I noticed is an Xbox at one point standing on a table with a game next to it :p I vaguely remember it was there on the console version though.

A GTX480 at 2560x1600 needs the "low" preset to be playable. It's what I have.

This is a really good game. Graphics are nicely done, gameplay is decent if a bit repetitive, but the story is enjoyable and the atmosphere nice and spooky.

I'm really enjoying it. Yeah it's repetitive (so far) and the controls are a bit "meh," but it's exactly what I was expecting. A good atmospheric thriller/horror game with good writing, direction, audio/visuals, and style. Having a good time with it.

The publisher is listed as Remedy Entertainment on Steam and they also talked about how they were self-publishing this in an interview awhile back.

I guess only Remedy could confirm if M$ makes anything off the PC version, however, I don't see how they could considering they aren't the publisher.

Am I doing something wrong? Easy mode, still having trouble getting through episode 3.

Not enough ammo and even batteries. what are you suppose to do without an ammo?
I use my ammo sparingly and only utilize flashbangs and flares if neccessary.

I really want to get this game, but I have two other games I haven't even touched yet, plus one that I still need to finish.

And with ME3 on the horizon, I don't know if I can squeeze it in!
