More recently they stripped some aspects (or maybe ancillary parts) of the VRA. I think that happened before Turmp even, in fact it likely played a key role in him getting elected.
People act surprised but this stuff has been openly discussed in right wing circles for some time. That's why Republicans freaked out about Turmp, most of them thought he was actually liberal and was going to undo the shit they were doing. But then he became the golden goose for the crazier shitheads (like Eastman) to try and enact stuff they'd been bandying about. The others have been deliberately slowly building that. But its also why McConnell hates his ass, because he basically took all the awful shit Republicans were slow-rolling and made it both apparent and also removed the veneer of respectability that pieces of shit like Romney and McCain had been providing as cover while they did that stuff.

How ironic it is that quite a few southern states are poverty stricken thus requiring the federal gov't to heavily subsidize them with welfare and other social services while those very same folks in those states are vociferously protesting against "socialism" and "undeserving folks" getting freebies from the gov't. Add to that how the anti-union big business folks over there suppress wages to attract investors and other businesses to set up shop there thus requiring the federal gov't to step in to provide monies to cover what those big businesses aren't providing to their middle class and poor working class shmucks that stupidly yet reliably vote against their own best interests. I still wonder why they do that to themselves.

I had just graduated Advanced Flight School when I read about Colorado losing federal highway funds for refusing to raise the drinking age from 19 to 21.Republicans get caught in court racist gerrymandering to disenfranchise black representation in that state and they are refusing the orders of SCOTUS. This proves two things. Republicans are the racist party and they don't really give a shit about law/order and the Constitution. I wonder if DOJ can petition the courts to enact penalties on the state of Alabama?

In my opinion slavery worked wonders beating the savage out of Black people and making them fit for civilization, or so I hear. Obviously then what this country needs is for these vastly improved Black people to be able to own ignorant uneducated white people as slaves.
