Republicans get caught in court racist gerrymandering to disenfranchise black representation in that state and they are refusing the orders of SCOTUS. This proves two things. Republicans are the racist party and they don't really give a shit about law/order and the Constitution. I wonder if DOJ can petition the courts to enact penalties on the state of Alabama?

The court needs to order the arrest of every legislator for contempt.

This is a dangerous game for conservatives to play and one they probably don’t want to. If Alabama can ignore SCOTUS rulings so can Biden.

They worked so hard to make a court that would legislate on their behalf - do they want to throw that away for a single house seat?

LOL they've been rewarded every time with dangerous games.. 2 stolen scotus seats are just the cherry on top of their dangerous cake.

And they get to eat it too judging from what they're doing now.

Yes, it’s a gamble that Democrats won’t follow their lead and so only Republicans get to defy court orders and they may be right. All I’m saying is Republicans don’t gain a lot here so I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

Republicans as a whole may perhaps not benefit, but what if its more like independent units operating autonomously, you know, like terrorist cells. And if there is one thing Dear Leader has been role modelling for them the past half decade...

It's so insane that in America Politicians pick their voters.

I assume a federal court can force a map on the state of the state refuses to comply, right?

Their goal is to burn it all down, so they win if the Dems don't start ignoring the court and they win if the Dems do start ignoring the court.

THIS is what I'm talking about. Just ignore the rules.
OBAMA 2024!!! (Because, who needs the F-ing rules?)
I even have the slogan...
OBAMA/BIDEN 2024 - JUST LIKE BEFORE
And I'm sure Joe would be quite open to the idea.

Nah, just slap them down and enforce a court drawn map.

As cathartic as it would be to see liberals grow some hair on their walnuts it would inevitably be a downward spiral from there.

Dems cannot out-crazy pubs, and they shouldn't even try or they'll only get embarrassed again.

After several more months of stonewalling:

Oh we are just too close to the 24 elections to change the map. It just wouldn’t be FAIR if we changed it NOW.

That's almost certainly the game they are going to try to play.

And in some ways, the courts let them get away with it by allowing so many delays and extended timelines on these lawsuits.

Court already gave them one illegal freebie racist map election and they're going back for seconds. We'll see if they are obliged I guess.

BTW - According to some here it isn't clear white Republicans in Ala are responsible for the racism.

Well ya see, Obama being the president of them all scared the liv'in crap out of those white folks who hated themselves for having a black man and his black wife being.........well, better than them in some certain ways (like being their decider) that hit that racist button sticking out of their foreheads like a sledgehammer slamming dead center on a rail spike.

Then along comes Donny Trump and his own racist ass coming to their rescue claiming it's patriotic to be a racist and y'all should feel good about yerselves for being that way. Out they came a hoot'in and a-holler'in from their basements, closets and septic tanks, all the while those other white folks who possessed the awareness, self-confidence, knowledge and wisdom to not only vote for Obama, they also saw plain as day what kind of a twisted, immoral fuckwit that Dirty Donny Trump actually was/is.

The Trump Troglodytes, they'll never get it because their racist hate and fear will keep them right where their conservative political cadre want them. Fuck'um all to Hades where they belong. Rest of us will move on and fight the good fight for the democratic form of gov't the nation started out with.

Not counting other minorities, African Americans make up just over 26% of the population of Alabama. There are 7 districts in Alabama. You'd think it's fair they get 2 districts. 7 districts means each district represents about 14.3% of the population. Double that makes 28.6%. Add in other minorities and it sounds fair to have two districts representing minorities.

It seems to me that an assumption is being made that the folk in Alabama charged with redistricting REFUSED to comply with a Supreme Court order. whereas, it would seem to me that the court itself is the only body legally capable of making that judgement. Do we know what their ruling will be on the proposed new districts and whether they meet the requirements set?
