he probably nodded off from his 6 day stand, flashbang through the door, bang bang bang, game over.

Yeah he probably fell asleep.

The russians would have used fentanyl aerosol 6 days ago.

Despite the bit about them taking action 'because they feared for the boy's life,' I doubt they burst in while he had a gun aimed at the kid or something.

More likely, he wasn't aiming at anything in particular, and they simply burst in and shot him. I dunno how often flashbangs really get used in hostage situations where an entry has to be made. Plenty of time to shoot someone while they're opening the door, chucking the grenade in, and taking cover.

Probably just broke the door down and ran in. Element of surprise and whatnot.

flashbangs are pretty standard, especially in a hostage situation. In the army we would never breach a house or dangerous room without a flashbang or a spray'n'pray (which you'll never do in a hostage situation for obvious reasons).

a flashbang buys the entry team valuable seconds.

Easy.

While the police were negotiating with bunkerbrah, they pooped down the ventilation tube. The caca got all over his face and blinded him, allowing them to break down the door and blow him away.

Thank you, flaming hot cheetos. Thank you so much.

Authorities take the time during the standoff to learn the perp's routines and movements. Once they're able to reasonably predict his movements and ascertain his position, they strike.

I would have thought they would have introduced some 'sleeping gas' down the ventilation tube. Something mild enough that would have put him and the boy to sleep very gently and then this would allow them to start the digging above without anyone waking up. Thus, when the break in, everyone would be asleep.

I guess not as much fun as shooting the abductor. Killing the abductor makes for a much better news story and scores the SWAT guy 1 more kill.

I assume this was the HRT?

Some of the best in the world at what they do, then. This wasn't "Bumfuck County's finest"

Hey raizinman quit watching some many damn movies.

There's a reason they use flash bangs+rush instead of something like sleeping gas.

I thought the whole knock-out gas idea wasn't feasible because no one knew if he had booby-trapped the door with explosives. Guess not. I wonder how they determined that it wasn't.

I'd like to hear more about the story as well, how they ended up getting the boy out safely. Kudos to whoever is responsible for rescuing the boy the putting down that diseased animal that took him.

That kid is probably scarred for life.
He probably became friends with the guy and the cops killed his new best friend.

Over the course of a few days they had gotten him to come over and open the door to accept supplies. They also had penetrated the bunker with a camera.

Once they saw he was pacing around with a gun they decided to move in. They got him to come over to the door, then they tossed some flashbangs into the ventilation pipe, bust through the door, and shot him.

He was probably barely conscious after the flashbangs went off. They blind you, disorient you, and literally make you stupid from the concussion. That effect was probably amplified in a small underground bunker.
