Whether it's Gore or Quayle, Dubya or Senior, Clinton or Dole, it all goes to prove these people can't think on their without their entire cabinet, advisors, strategists, spin doctors, and a dozen or so speech writers. All of them seem to have these gaffes when asked to exercise the gray matter and give an articulate answer without assistance.

That's what he gets for just parrotting whatever his spin machine says to. (I'm agreeing with Windogg).

Politicians should be themselves not who they think we want them to be. It'd be better all the way around--I bet the talkshows would really get a lot of material. (Think if Ted Kennedy let it all hang out. Yikes)

<< The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century. >>

I remember seeing this on a list of stupidest things ever written on tests, so I highly doubt Gore said this. Its presence puts the validity of other quotes on this page into question.

<< Wow. Founder of the internet. He is a busy guy. >>

He didn't say that. What he said was that he "was very instrumental in the founding of the Internet." As far as I know, that means that he contributed to the internet's creation, not that he is its founder.

I'm out of this thread before I get flamed.:Q

Hmm,

I have seen those quotes (many of them at least) attributed to other politicians.

Me thinks you lack a frontal lobe.

Yeah, I have seen every quote save the one about the Internet credited to Quayle on previous occasions. (The one about his fellow "astronauts" was edited from what Quayle said.) It would be nice to know who actually said these things, no one person can possibly be stupid enough to have said all those things, I suspect that whenever someone thinks a politician to be stupid they just credit a standard list of stupid quotations to them.

I only glanced at the page briefly, but all that I saw (except for the Internet one) are actually Quayle quotes. I have a book, that about 10 years old, sitting on my desk that has many of those quotes, all attributed to good old Dan.

<< VooDoo Extreme, you mean you've never seen those quotes attributed to Quayle and Bush before? Amazing. >>

Nop, I live in Sweden... Don't got newspapers/computers or television...
Just plain ol' ice-bears ;)

We eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner :)
Got kinda tired of them when your like 90 years or something...

yep most of those are quale quotes. and the quote about him being instrumental in the founding of the internet. Even though I hate Gore, the truth is he was on a committee that made the internet available to the public. (if I remember correctly, he may have even been the head of that committee) This committee also coined the term internet. So unfortunately, he's was right when he said that quote.
