Interesting segment on the Al Franken radio show today 10/5 with guest Tom Oliphant.
Tom spend the day on the hill. He predicted soon after the coming elections, a commission that was setup a year ago and ran by Jim Baker and Lee Hamilton (on Iraq) will force some major changes in the current Iraq policy and in demanding major changes in war policy. Mostly due the their impatience with what Jim Baker see?s as the failure of the current Iraq government, in that under its current leadership the Iraq gov has failed to have any success on stopping the violence. And that they are on their third plan (attempt) to curb the violence that has sky rocketed since June.
With some 30 attacks daily on American troops there and the huge spike in American troop injuries and deaths lately. The Jim baker commission claims the Bush policy in Iraq has failed, and major changes are now due. They will insist on the replacement of both Rice and Rumsfeld as a start, and a change in focus towards the war. Tom Oliphant also said a large portion of the republican leadership has lost patience with the Bush policy and will join Baker and Hamilton in forcing these changes with president Bush.
It looks like the sh*t has finally hit the fan and the republican leadership has had it with the failed Bush policy, a failed Iraq policy and the large number of American deaths now occurring.
This will happen after the November elections as the republicans try to take over the misdirected Bush policy in the final two years.
It would be so nice if this actually happens and the republicans themselves stand up and change the direction of this war Bush started. Lets hope so, for our troops sake.
You can hear the show on Air America radio and download the entire show in MP3 format. You can say what you want about Al Franken, but he does have interesting guests and has talked about many subjects way before they became mainstream, like the Delay corruption that brought so many of them to justice.
