eh. you can't call AD that subtle. for every 'clever' joke (say a deadpan play on words from whatsisface mcexpensivehair) there was outright absurdism from job, buster, tobias...
i liked it. and sjwaste sounds like he may actually like some of the things that i like, so i'll try and finally give this show a shot. is it gay? i seem to remember it being uh, kinda gay. not that i care, it's just that if a gay couple is in the central plot, the network tends to overplay the, uh, homo card. worse than with token black guys in white sitcoms (go sit in the corner black scrubs).
AD had a lot of subtlety in the background. That's what gave the show such good replay value for me. There's always something you didn't get before.
MF has a gay couple. Depending on the episode, the main story is about them, but it's not ridiculous, "Hey look, Ellen's gay now!" sort of humor. If a stereotype is apparent, it's because they're making fun of it themselves. Definitely not token, the show is a lot funnier because of the gay couple. If anything, Cam is my favorite character on the show. But the central story arc generally involves the whole family.
I'd suggest watching MF from the very beginning. The first episode, or was it the pilot, really brings it all together. I won't spoil it, but it was a good kickoff to the show.
