As a British subject I can assure you that we are far from a 'small insignificant country'! For a start I suggest you try to read some 'REAL' history as Europe have hundreds of years on you. Also, let us not forget that it was the British who went to America in the first place, however you obviously haven't heard of the Mayflower? Secondly your country is full of people that you captured into slavery of which we did not. Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about and as per usual as just one American who knows nothing about politics or history outside your own little bubble. I am absolutely furious at your comment and as for muslims - not every muslim is a terrorist!
Lyndsay (using Dan's email)
Dear Lyndsay, You are retarded.
1. Nobody disputes the fact that britian was THE world power several years ago. That is not the case any more. they are A world power, but not THE world power. Right now, I would say they are in the same boat as pretty much every other major European country (Germany, France, Italy, ect)
However being significant yesterday doesn't mean that you are significant today.
2. You must be some sort of retard to think that slavery was ONLY in america and not in other parts of the world. I suggest you read this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_Britain_and_Ireland . I find it particularly funny that you go off on how americans had salves, but the noble british did not (even though just prior you stated that america was primary formed by the british)
To try and paint britans, or any other part of the world, as completely absolved from slavery while 'evil' americans were the sole offenders is ridiculous beyond belief.
3. I find it particularly humerus that you try and talk about our lack of historical knowledge, when the topic at hand isn't history, it is current state. Especially the fact that you come from a nation that, from my experience, does a bang up job of distorting history to a large extent for their students.
Think about this, what is your opinion of the American involvement in WWII? If you are the standard british citizen it is something along the lines of "America is a stupid country and they didn't do anything in WWII. The British isle would have won the war without them!"
This is a VERY common opinion by the younger British. Yet, the older generation (Those that where actually involved with the war) have a very different opinion. The only way I can see the huge discrepancy is the fact that british schools are seriously trying to downplay the american involvement in WWII.
But I digress. You come from a nation that suffers an inferiority complex. Once, they were the nation that the sun would never set on, not any more. America has taken Britain's place in the world powers, and the british are furious about it. And like other nations that aren't the world leader, you have fury and rage towards the nation that currently does lead.
