I have been thinking about getting a Yorkie, but the thought of paying 800 for a dog is crazy to me. So I thought to myself why not buy a female and breed her down the road and get some of my money back. I was going through AKC website and it looks to me that it cost 25 bucks for the application and $2 per puppy to register the dogs (providing the sire and dame are registered). I have always heard it cost a fortune to register dogs, and this doesn't sound that expensive to me. My question is; is there something I'm not seeing like an annual membership fee or something? Also are there any major expenses I am not thinking about other than vet and food? Also is the AKC the better of the kennel clubs for registration? I am seeing a few CKC out there, but I have never heard of them before.

Thanks

You have it right. If you are going to breed the bitch then you will want papers. Stay with AK.

Since I had my Basset neutered it didn't make sense.
