I got an AK31A, and it supports 100ata. I've got two harddrives. A quantum 20gig that only sopports 66ata, and a Maxtor 30gig that supports 100ata. Can I plug those two hard drives on the same cable and they will work at they rated speed. Or If I plug them in the same cable, will the drives work at the speed of the slowest drive?

Like most devices that share a data bus the overall connection will be limited by the slowest device. In this case ATA66. You don't have anything to worry about though because there isn't an IDE hard drive anywhere that can reach 50 MB/s much less 66 or 100. So even though we're buying ATA100 HDD's, they only get about 34-38MB/s.
